Retain and Pave

Previously this area was a poorly turfed area, very dry and uneven. Through retaining and paving this area our client now has a much larger functional area than previously.

Paving
100 mm Compaction Base

After the area has been excavated to the desired depth.A 100 mm compacted layer of crusher dust or road base is installed and wet compacted.

Paver Bedding Sand Layer

Here a 25 mm thick layer of paver bedding or medium washed river sand is installed level with the use of screed rails to ensure a uniform 25 mm of sand under each paver.

Compaction of Pavers

The final process in the paver installation is compacting the installed pavers with a cushioned plate compactor. Clear paving sealant can then be applied to each paver to prevent staining while providing a glossy finish.

Excavation

Depending on the thickness of the pavers to be installed excavation to a depth of approximately 165 mm is required and is usually undertaken using a mini loader.

Compaction of Crusher Dust

Here the compacted base layer is wet compacted several times in different directions to provide a stable paver base.
